Savfe: New igus offers for machine tool engineers in the global market16/09/2013

"Savfe – safe & save" campaign at the EMO: equates to safe products at favourable prices, which save on process costs

Hanover/Cologne, 16th September 2013 – Under the motto "savfe – safe & save" igus GmbH is presenting new products and services at the EMO 2013 in Hanover which are both safe and help customers to save costs. The aim is to support machine tool manufacturers in the global market.

The machine tool industry is facing new challenges: global competitiveness is becoming more and more important. Price pressure is increasing rapidly in Asia and South America in particular. In this environment, igus is supporting its customers with its new savfe campaign. At this year's EMO, the plastics specialist is presenting products for the machine tool industry under the "savfe – safe & save" motto – products which are both reliable and particularly economical. igus aims to reduce product and process costs for machine tool manufacturers without compromising product standards and services. Frank Blase, Managing Director of igus GmbH, explains the company's strategy as follows: "Our task is to deliver the best quality expected of igus, at the same time saving costs."

The new safe & save packages: cheaper and with a reliable service life
Thanks to intensive material research, igus can produce at favourable costs yet guarantee the safety of its components at the same time. The results of on-going research on tribo-optimised plastics coupled with the company's innovative strength are new products which combine the properties of quality and cost efficiency. The new cable range chainflex M is a particularly shining example of this. igus has developed a range covering all types of cables from control, motor, servo and measuring system cables through to data and bus cables which guarantees reliable and low-cost cables. The M stands for a guaranteed service life of one million double strokes, and igus guarantees functional safety and service life for this period. At the same time, all the cable families in this range cost around 20-30% less than the range offered so far, which is unique in this price segment. Thanks to optimised production methods, igus has also been able to reduce the costs of components such as the energy chain family E4.1 light, the light and stable energy tube R4.1 light as well as the maintenance- and lubricant-free iglidur and drylin polymer plain bearings without compromising their quality for machine tool applications.

chainflex guaranteed range: new unique guarantee for cables
In addition, the cables specialist is issuing standardised guarantees for the first time for all the cables in the chainflex catalogue: depending on the number of cables ordered or the machine double strokes achieved, this claim is certified at three different levels – with 18, 24 or 36 months guarantee. With this, igus provides all machine tool manufacturers that participate with the long-term security they require. In case of a warranty claim, igus replaces the cut-to-length cable immediately.

New partner programme for pre-harnessed systems – no matter who installs them
The energy chain specialist is even going a step further with its readychain partner programme: igus grants a system warranty for its completely pre-harnessed energy chain systems. And this warranty is granted no matter who pre-harnesses or installs the energy chain whether it’s igus, the pre-harnessing company or the manufacturer. If the customer carries out installation himself, igus provides the specialist advice required for project planning and production. Pre-harnessing companies all over the world are certified by igus and supported where necessary.

Time saving during design, purchasing and installation igus also offers tools and services which reduce process costs and provide customers with added value, such as the open space concept for example: igus engineers develop and design tailor-made energy chain solutions – including all attachment parts – or ex-stock solutions, all on the basis of design plans. As well as delivering products, igus has made a name for itself as a system supplier. The name igus is synonymous with one-stop-shopping for energy chain components. For example, the new compact fluid module accessory for readychain enables the complete integration of electronic control technology products, hydraulics, pneumatics, magnetic engineering, fluid sensors and control sensors. On-site installation is an additional customer guarantee for safe and reliable products, since igus tests all components before use; at the same time, production costs are reduced. Specially developed modular transport installation racks, the readychain rack and the new readychain rack light for small applications, delivers all systems safely to the machine thus reducing assembly costs even further: the machine manufacturer can deliver fast too. The result: igus helps its customers to save costs over the whole process chain.
